I am a pensioner living alone, born in 1956. My life has been divided into “before” and “after”. First I lost my husband, and later both of my sons. I was left completely alone… I am from the frontline village of Shcherbynivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. For a long time I lived under constant shelling — every day shells flew over my house. I did not want to leave my home until the very last moment, because my whole life is there, my memories of my dearest people. But when a shell landed right in my vegetable garden, I realized: the most precious thing is life. So I was forced to evacuate to Poltava region, with almost nothing. With me came my only “family” now — 2 dogs and 4 cats, whom I could not leave behind. I am seriously ill. I have a severe form of type II diabetes, I am insulin-dependent and need vital medicines every day. The illness has caused serious complications: thyroid problems and other related conditions. Doctors have prescribed tests and treatment for me, but much of it can only be done in paid laboratories, and for me these are unaffordable sums. Every month I have to spend over 2000 UAH on the most essential medicines alone. My pension is very small, and it is catastrophically insufficient even for basic needs, let alone treatment. I have been left alone with my illness, without the support of family, in a constant struggle for life and health… I turn to you with a sincere request — please help me. Any help is vital for me right now: for examinations, treatment and buying medicines. Even in circumstances as difficult for me as these, I very much want to live…
